Pneumatika started in 2019 as a mentorship program in Kenya. Our founder, Jeremy Kalafa, a sports science graduate, had a passion for helping children and young adults discover and live within their God-given purpose. He noticed that many of them lacked father figures, life-readiness skills, and access to opportunities. This needed to change. He started by training young boys and girls at Mbagathi Road Primary soccer and life skills twice a week.

During the same year, the holiday programs were also born. They begun at Milimani Primary School with only four participants. The holiday program was then moved to Strathmore University in August and December where children enjoyed sports, life skills and fun games.

During this pilot project, Jeremy realised that a community approach was needed for the program to become a success. Parents, teachers, local leaders needed to be involved in the process. He was then led to set up the program in Kiserian town, Kajiado County.

The program was officially registered as Pneumatika Coaching Services in January 2020 just before the Covid-19 outbreak. During the outbreak, Jeremy would provide fun and safe activities for kids throughout Kiserian.

The program grew and attracted more participants, both boys and girls, from different backgrounds and ages. Jeremy realized that he needed more help and resources to run the program effectively. He recruited some of his friends and colleagues who shared his vision and values. The main goal was to provide a safe space for children, teenagers and young adults. A space for them to learn without judgement or fear; a place they were accepted and celebrated for their God-given abilities and personalities.

Since then, Pneumatika has grown and reached more than 1000 participants in Kiserian and beyond. We have also partnered with other organizations and institutions to offer more opportunities and support for our participants and the community.

We are a social enterprise

We generate income from selling bakery products, computer packages, content development, and offering baking and coding classes. The income supports our core and outreach programs, and creates jobs for our participants and the community. We also use our social enterprise activities to teach our participants practical skills and business principles, and to showcase their talents and products.
